Abstract
Differently from the past, the current environment of medical world is being changed from the hospital-oriented to the patient-oriented, from the medical care providers`` authoritarianism to the kind service, and from the inefficient management to the rational management. Also, it is being changed toward that the patient``s rights are being expanded gradually rather than leaving everything to the doctors. As such, as the medical market is being changed and the interests are concentrated on the consumers, the patients, the importance by what factor the patients select the hospital and what part the patients satisfy in the process of selections is being increased. Understanding the attribute that the patient selects the medical institution is the information to be identified basically for the development of medical policy or at the level of hospital management to evaluate the relevancy of the patient``s medical institution selection according to the characteristics of the disease and to prepare the required medical policy. The size and type of medical institution, the relation between the location of the medical institution and the residence of the patient, etc. are major variables to determine if the medical resources are used properly. It is important to increase the satisfaction on the medical service as well as the excellence of the medical technology. As mentioned above, to survive in the rapidly changing medical environment, the hospital needs to find out the importance of the attribute that the patient select the hospital and of the patient satisfaction by identifying what is the attribute to select the hospital and by reflecting the expectation and demands of medical consumers in the medical institution management. Therefore, in this study, the characteristics of the customers who select the medical institution is examined to find out what factor has influences on them to select the medical institution by analyzing empirically through the questionnaire survey. The purpose of this study is to provide help for the medical institution to make the management efficient, and to provide the basic information required for the system and management to provide the good quality of medical service.
